Our speaker this year, Rebekah Cole, DNP is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who currently practices pediatric psychiatry in Chicago as a child & adolescent advanced practice provider and hospital child psych liaison. Dr. Cole earned both her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and Master of Science in Nursing from Rush University. She completed clinical training in child, lifespan, and autism psychiatry at Rush University Medical Center and holds certification as an ANCC Certified Nurse Leader. Her clinical interests include mood, anxiety, adjustment, resilience studies, and foster care--a particular interest close to her core as Rebekah, herself, grew up in the system. Separated from her parents and siblings, Rebekah moved 13 times before high school, living in placements including shelters, hospitals, group homes and fosters, attended numerous schools, made and lost countless connections. But with the help of a few people who cared, and the connection of a community, Rebekah found her way through high school to college and beyond. Tonight she shares her story.
